ਸਾਡਾ ਇਕ-ਇਕ ਸਾਹ ਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਹੇਠ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ | ਕਦਮ ਕਦਮ ਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਾਢਾਂ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਦੇਖਣ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ । ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਯੁੱਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੇਕਰ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਯੁੱਗ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਅਤਿਕਥਨੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ।

ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਨੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਲਾਭਦਾਇਕ ਚੀਜਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਾਢ ਕੱਢੀ ਹੈ। । ਇਨਾਂ ਕਾਢਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੋਖੇ ਇਲੈਕਟਰਾਨਿਕ ਦਿਮਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਦਿਮਾਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸੇ ਇਲੈਕਟਰਾਨਿਕ ਦਿਮਾਗ ਦਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਂ ਹੈ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ।

ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਕਾਢ ਤਾਂ ਕਾਫੀ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ਹੈ । ਇਸਦੀ ਕਾਢ ਲਗਭਗ 30 ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ । ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਕੰਮ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਦਿਮਾਗ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਛੱਡਣਾ ਹੈ । ਹਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਈਜਾਦ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਣੂ ਭਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਿਧਾਂਤ ਵੀ। ਸਿੱਧ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ।

ਅੱਜਕਲ ਕਈ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਤਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਲੇਸ਼ਣ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ । ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਟੀਚਾ ਤੱਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਧਾਰ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਟਾ ਕੱਢਣਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕੁੱਝ ਦੱਸੇ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ । ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਰਗੇ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਮੁਲਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਂ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੁੱਢਲੀਆਂ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।

ਕੰਪਿਉਟਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਿੱਤ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਪਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ । ਨਿੱਤ ਨਵੇਂ ਤਜ਼ਰਬੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਹੋਰ ਤਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੱਡੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਾਕਟ ਹੋਣ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਉਪਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਅੱਜ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੀ ਨਿਯਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਚੌਗਿਰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ । ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਨਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ।

ਭਾਰਤ ਵਰਗੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਦੇਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੈਰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਸਾਰ ਲਏ ਹਨ। ਹੁਣ ਸਕੂਲ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਾਢਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੂਰਤੀਮਾਨ ਰੂਪ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।

ਹੁਣ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੋਵੇ। ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਬਿਜਨਸਮੈਨ ਹੈ, ਦਫ਼ਤਰ, ਸਕੂਲ, ਕਾਲਜ, ਹਸਪਤਾਲ, ਫੈਕਟਰੀ, ਬੈਂਕ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ । ਹੋਰ ਤਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਹੁਣ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਓਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਵੀ ਇਸੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਉਹ ਸਮਾਂ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਇੰਦਰੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਸ ਕੰਪਿਉਟਰ ਦਾ ਨਿਯੰਤਰਣ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ।

ਸਾਇੰਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਵਾਂ ਸਦਕਾ ਹੀ 21ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਦਾ ਯੁੱਗ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਅੱਜ ਸਾਡੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਛੋਟੇ ਤੋਂ ਛੋਟੇ ਕੰਮ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਵੇਖੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਅਜੋਕੇ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਿਚਲੀਆਂ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਅਸੀਮ ਹਨ। ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਇੱਕ ਮਸ਼ੀਨ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਤੇਜ਼ ਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅੱਜ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਵਰਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਹਰ ਦਫ਼ਤਰ, ਸਕੂਲ, ਕਾਲਜ, ਹਸਪਤਾਲ, ਕਾਰਖ਼ਾਨਾ ਆਦਿ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਵਰਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਅੱਜ ਵੱਡੇ-ਵੱਡੇ ਕਾਰਖ਼ਾਨੇ, ਹਵਾਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼, ਮਾਰੂ ਹਥਿਆਰ, ਉਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ, ਹਿਸਾਬ-ਕਿਤਾਬ ਆਦਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਲਈ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਹੀ ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਧੁਰਾ ਬਣਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਵੱਡੇ-ਵੱਡੇ ਰਜਿਸਟਰ ਲਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ, ਉੱਥੇ ਅੱਜ, ਡੀ.ਵੀ.ਡੀ., ਪੈੱਨ ਡਰਾਈਵ, ਹਾਰਡ ਉਸਕ ਆਦਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨਾਲ ਇੰਟਰਨੈੱਟ ‘ਤੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਈਮੇਲ ਭੇਜੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਹਮੋ-ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਦੁਨੀਆ ਭਰ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਇੱਕ ਬਟਨ ਆਇਆਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੇ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਲਾਭ ਤਾਂ ਹਨ ਹੀ ਪਰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਵੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ। ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਜਾਂ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਭੇਦ ਚੁਰਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਣਕਾਰ ਮਿੰਟ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੋ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਤੀ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ। ਅੱਜ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਵਧ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਨਿਸਚੇ ਹੀ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਯੁੱਗ ਅਖਵਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਹੱਕਦਾਰ ਹੈ।

ਭੂਮਿਕਾ – ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਕਾਢ ਹੈ। ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਸਦਕਾ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕੰਮ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਸਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਢ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ- ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਢ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਅੱਜ-ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸੀ. ਪੀ. ਯੂ. ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਦਿਮਾਗ਼ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਿੰਨੀਆਂ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਸੂਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਭੇਜੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਇਸ਼ਾਰਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਰ ਇੱਕ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਭਾਵ ਹਰ ਇੱਕ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਸੰਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੋੜ, ਘਟਾਓ, ਗੁਣਾ ਤੇ ਤਕਸੀਮ ਦੇ ਹੱਲ ਮਿੰਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬੈਂਕਾਂ, ਸਕੂਲਾਂ, ਕਾਲਜਾਂ, ਦਫ਼ਤਰਾਂ, ਰੇਲਵੇ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ, ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਦੁਕਾਨਾਂ ਆਦਿ ‘ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਆਮ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਈ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੰਟਰਨੈੱਟ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਪੂਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਕੰਮ – ਅੱਜ-ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਬਿਜਲੀ, ਪਾਣੀ ਤੇ ਟੈਲੀਫੋਨ ਦੇ ਬਿੱਲ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਕਦੇ ਥੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਇਹ ਕਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਗ਼ਲਤੀ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਡੇ-ਵੱਡੇ ਕੰਮ ਮਿੰਟਾਂ-ਸਕਿੰਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਕੁਝ ਹਾਨੀਆਂ – ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਵੀ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਤੇਜ਼ ਕਿਰਨਾਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਬੁਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਚਾਅ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸੀਮਤ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਸਿੱਟਾ – ਅੱਜ ਹਰ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮਿਲਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੱਛੜ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਲਾਭ ਹਨ। ਅੱਜ-ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਇਹ ਹਰ ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਅਟੁੱਟ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਭੂਮਿਕਾ — ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਯੁੱਗ ਦੀ ਤੇਜ਼ ਚਾਲ ਦੌੜਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਛੇਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਛੇਤੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੰਜ਼ਲ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਵੱਧਣ ਦੀ ਸੱਧਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਕਾਢਾਂ ਕੱਢੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਲੈ ਸਕੇ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਕਾਹਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ। ਅੰਤ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਸੱਧਰ ਰੋਬੋਟਸ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ।

ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ- ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਸਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੜੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਯੰਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਘੱਟ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ ਕਿ ਵਾਰ ਰਾਜੀਵ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ, “ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਜਿਸ ਤੇਜ ਚਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਗਤੀ (ਚਾਲ) ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ। ”

ਇਹੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਸਭ ਥਾਂ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦਾ ਰੌਲਾ-ਰੱਪਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।ਟੀ. ਵੀ. ਰੇਡਿਓ, ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰਾਂ ਆਦਿ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੇ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਣ ਦਾ ਸਾਧਨ ਬਣਾਈ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।ਦੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਛੋਟੇ-ਵੱਡੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਟ੍ਰੇਨਿੰਗ ਸੈਂਟਰ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।ਬੈਂਕਾਂ, ਰੇਲਵੇ, ਹਵਾਈ ਆਰਖਸ਼ਣਾਂ ਆਦਿ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਲਦੀ ਨਜਿੱਠਣ ਲਈ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਤੋਂ ਭਾਵ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ — ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਦਿਮਾਗੀ- ਯੰਤਰ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੰਕ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਸੂਖਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੂਖਮ ਅਤੇ ਔਖੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਔਖੀਆਂ ਗੁੰਝਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਾਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਗ਼ਲਤੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਤੋਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੰਭਵ ਹੈ ਜੇਕਰ ਉਸ ਯੰਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਂ ਯੰਤਰ ਸੰਚਾਲਣ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਕਮੀ ਹੋਵੇ। ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦਾ ਆਧਾਰ ਆਇਤਾਕਾਰ ‘ ਗਣਕ ਪਟਲ ‘ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਅੱਜ ਤੋਂ ਲਗਭਗ ਚਾਰ ਸਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ। ਅਬਾਕਸ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸੰਨ 1642 ਈ. ਵਿਚ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਰੂਪ-ਰੇਖਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀ।ਸੰਨ 1671 ਈ. ਵਿਚ ਜਰਮਨ ਗਣਿਤ ਗੋਰਟਫਾਈਡ ਨੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ। 19ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਗਣਤਿਗ ਚਾਰਲਸ ਬੈਬੇਗ ਨੇ ਸੰਨ 1832 ਈ. ਵਿਚ ਗਣਿਤ-ਗਣਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਖਾ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਹ ਯੰਤਰ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਜਟਿਲ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਦਾ ਸਿਹਰਾ ਅਮੇਰਿਕਾ ਦੇ ਹਾਵਰਡ ਏਕਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਿੱਤ-ਨਿੱਤ ਨਵੇਂ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਪੰਜ ਅੰਗ ਹਨ —

1 .ਇਨਪੁਟ ਡਿਵਾਈਸ ਜਾਂ ਅੰਤਰਿਕ-ਯੰਤਰ

2 .ਮੈਮੋਰੀ ਯੂਨਿਟ ਜਾਂ ਯਾਦ ਯੰਤਰ

3 .ਕੰਟਰੋਲ ਯੂਨਿਟ ਜਾਂ ਨਿਯੰਤਰਨ ਯੰਤਰ

• ਅੰਕ ਗਣਿਤ ਯੂਨਿਟ
• ਆਊਟ ਪੁਟ ਡਿਵਾਈਸ ਜਾਂ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਯੰਤਰ।

ਸੂਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਵਿਚ ਅਲੱਗ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਭਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਜਾਂ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਜਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਵਰਨਮਾਲਾ ਜਾਂ ਅੱਖਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸੂਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਬਿੱਟਸ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਟਰਮੀਨਲ ਤੇ ਛਪ ਕੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਸਾਰਾਂਸ਼ — ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਯੁੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਨੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਥਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ, ਹੱਥਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਮਾਗ਼ੀ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਰੋਕ-ਟੋਕ ਇਕ ਹੀ ਚਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਦਿਮਾਗ਼ ਦੀਆਂ ਉਣਤਾਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਦਿਮਾਗ਼ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਤ ਪਾ ਦੇਣ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਦੀ ਉਪਯੋਗਿਤਾ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਰਮਨ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਮਹਾਨਤਾ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ।

Its great to see the government building open platforms where civil society, NGOs and educationists can contribute. I just proposed a video lecture to be added from to a book chapter and it's been promptly linked to with appropriate attribution. Such open platforms are the way to go. Also great work in testing and automatic test generation -- need of the hour to rectify the exam system in Pakistan. I did find some of the cynical, politically coloured, comments distasteful though.

I do not want to come across as a cynic. But I am skeptical of these claims. Unless and until we can validate a measurable benefit, or positive outcome as a result of these actions, they would be no more than an exercise in futility. It is a bit problematic, if the Chairman appears to be taking credit for video lectures without recognizing the NGO that may have developed most of them. There is no harm in public-private partnership, if done for the good of the citizenry.

Having said that the most serious impact PITB can make is in the area of making the governance more effective and transparent.

For example, PITB should implement technology to significantly marginalize the need for patwaris. We should establish a nation land survey standard. And the landownership records should be available online, along with all the GIS survey information. This alone would benefit the public immensely.

We should be able to track every rupee spent by the provincial government on any contract, procurement, acquisition.

We should make it extremely easy for every citizen to receive, track and measure the performance of the provincial government for all services provided by the government.

Technology can make the process for requesting and tracking ALL services provided by the provincial government should become completely transparent to the general public. Technology can also make us safer and reduce the cost of services that that government provides us. PITB Chairman is a Cambridge graduate and I am sure can work with the CM secretariat to change local laws, such that inclusion of technology in all aspects of provincial services becomes pervasive.

There is no replacement of class based learning, please note nations which are far superior in information technology than us do not use such gadgets to teach their students especially in schools. These could be useful teaching aids but not the solution. Government must take steps to improve the public sector schools, such steps will further deteriorate the already damaged system.

Saif ... assessment techniques / practices for gauging student learning outcome is the area that needs more attention and hope with collaborative efforts of educationist and technology experts we will be able to see more realistic and practically feasible systems for measuring student learning outcomes.

Brilliant work. Sitting here at Stanford, I never realized that such initiatives will be taken one day in Pakistan -- especially the ELearn platform, which looks like the equivalent of Khan Academy for Pakistan students. Great work by PITB; they are often quoted as an example and a ray of hope for us Pakistanis living abroad.

The PBIT is making a significant contribution to Punjab's school education through its e-learning initiative! However, it can be made far more effective if it is complemented with a robust teacher training program, critical for strengthening the base of the educational value chain.

Good initiative!!! I would like to see the results of this effort made public. The tax payers should know the current state of the education system managed by the government.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a technology that makes machines smart and capable of doing things that usually require human intelligence. It is a rapidly evolving field with ongoing research and development to advance its capabilities and address its limitations. AI has permeated various aspects of our daily lives, and its applications can be found in numerous products and services. The integration of AI continues to expand across multiple sectors, providing convenience, personalization, and efficiency in our daily lives. While Punjabi culture is rich and diverse, characterized by several distinctive traits that define its identity, AI has started to make its presence felt in Punjabi culture through various avenues. Though AI is gradually enriching Punjabi culture, it is still in its early stages, and there is room for further exploration and integration. However, it is essential to ensure that AI's influence aligns with the values and aspirations of Punjabi culture while preserving its authenticity and uniqueness.

Artificial intelligence is the branch of computer science which is concerned with developing machines capable of completing tasks requiring human intelligence. The advent of AI is a paradigm shift which needs to be fully harnessed for well-being of humanity. India has made significant progress in developing AI capability-building in the past few years through government initiative and private sector investments. In June 2018, Niti Aayog had released a paper which directs India's AI focus on five sectors: healthcare, agriculture, education, smart cities and infrastructure, and smart mobility and transportation. Since then, several initiatives have been taken to develop a strong AI ecosystem. The Centre of Excellence in Data Analysis (CEDA) has been established to provide expert data analytics services to government departments. Further, the Future Skills Prime online capacity-building platform has been launched to skill and reskill professionals in emerging technologies and in job roles. Also, the National AI Portal has been launched as a one-stop digital platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing in AI. The concerned ministry (MEITY) is soon going to launch the National Programme on AI. However, a long leap has to be taken in this regard. Robots and AI technologies have changed the way we live, from mapping car routes to providing home assistants. AI is used in surveillance, machine learning, and natural language processing and will become increasingly important to education, law, governance, and more. Some advocates of AI technology even believe that AI will equal human intelligence, and someday attain greater-than-human intelligence. Robots may become our helpers, our companions, or our superiors. The idea that godlike machines will replace humanity is either a nightmare or a cause for celebration depending on who you ask, and it has become increasingly commonplace. In the 21st century it has spread throughout the world, with Indian and American scientists, engineers, and even the general public paying attention to such futuristic speculation. Ideas about AI arise from cultural and religious beliefs, and they affect how we design and use the technology. This book traces perspectives on history and technology in India and the United States, and applies these to how we think about AI. Futures of Artificial Intelligence suggests that the global use of AI will benefit from incorporating perspectives from around the world, showing that India has a powerful role to play in the future of humanity.

AI is an evolving field, and researchers and engineers continue to explore and develop new techniques and technologies to enhance its capabilities. The impact of AI on religions is not entirely predictable. AI is likely to affect religions or be affected by them in various ways, some of which are already becoming apparent. As with any new technology, it is up to individuals and religious communities to decide how to incorporate AI into their beliefs and practices. It is worth mentioning that the mutual relevance of Sikhism and AI is likely to be complex and multifaceted. It will depend on how AI is developed, implemented, and used and the attitudes and beliefs of individual Sikhs and the Sikh community.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is considered as a new concept. It is associated with the concept that intelligence is supposed to be manifested by the computer systems. It was the sole property of humans previously. Without human help, the AI can take decision and can solve complex problems in different sectors of the society. It has brought in a vital societal change in the perspective of revelation of human intelligence. There was an implicit assumption that humans possess hierarchical superiority in exhibiting intelligence in comparison to other forms of life. This fundamental assumption has been questioned owing to the anticipated entry of such entities which, in the familiar thinking, are not alive but nonetheless is considered superior to humans intellectually and perhaps ultimately morally. The entry of this cutting age technology (AI) has caused some impacts in the society deriving huge advantages as well as throwing some entangled challenges those are apprehended to pose threat even to the human rights bringing in a thorough societal change in different ramifications.

This study examines the evolving employment landscape influenced by technological advancements and global economic factors, focusing on the migration dynamics affecting the youth of Punjab. Using a qualitative and quantitative approach, the research relies solely on secondary data to analyze migration trends and their implications. A comprehensive literature review identifies existing theories and gaps in migration research, exploring the push, pull, and mooring factors influencing youth migration. Key findings indicate that disinterest in farming and better job prospects significantly affect migration intentions. Enhanced educational quality and skill development programs emerge as crucial for local employment opportunities, while life skills education is essential for boosting youth employability and self-confidence. Thematic analysis of secondary sources reveals the importance of community engagement in fostering attachment to local areas, thereby reducing migration. Additionally, the study employs mathematical modelling and statistical analysis, including regression techniques, to quantify migration dynamics and explore relationships between 2 various influencing factors. The research culminates in actionable policy recommendations aimed at addressing root causes of migration, promoting entrepreneurship, and improving local living conditions. By synthesizing insights from diverse secondary sources, this study provides comprehensive strategies for managing youth migration in Punjab, while also highlighting the need for better skill assessment mechanisms to ensure that upskilling initiatives yield tangible benefits.

Ikea doesn’t have to be an outlier. We have the frameworks to apply AR technology to e-commerce on a broader scale than we currently do. TikTok and Instagram filters alone prove that we can do this easily, and relatively inexpensively. What we need is for companies that can most benefit from this tech—salons, clothing retailers and more furniture and home improvement retailers—to provide this interactive and engaging shopping experience.

Blockchain technology is not new to the e-commerce industry, but its application is evolving. While we tend to think of blockchain in terms of cryptocurrency and NFTs, it has more potential uses. A blockchain is an append-only ledger, meaning that data can be added to the chain but not removed. The accountants and security professionals among you undoubtedly recognize the term and can immediately see the transparency a blockchain ledger can provide.

Logistics companies could greatly benefit from a blockchain ledger. It would provide transparency to their shipping clients and improve communication with their contracted owner/operators. The benefits could even extend to the customers of their clients, who could use the blockchain to provide real-time updates for restocking and shipments.

Customized Loyalty Programs

Personalization has been a hallmark of e-commerce; however, its scope has been historically limited to cross-selling through product recommendations. In 2024, I want to see us bring personalization further as retailers harness data analytics and AI. This could involve large retailers offering more personalized content to users and allowing users to customize loyalty programs to meet their specific shopping habits and needs. Ultimately, increased personalization can forge stronger connections between brands and their customers.

Eco-Friendly E-Commerce

The focus on sustainability and eco-friendliness has gained momentum in recent years. In 2024, this trend will likely intensify in the e-commerce industry. Customers expect e-commerce platforms to offer eco-friendly options, reduce packaging waste and embrace sustainable practices. I want to see retailers align with these values to improve their businesses and gain a competitive edge in the market.

Stronger Security And Privacy Measures

In 2024, I see consumers gravitating toward platforms that prioritize their personal data security, and governments are likely to introduce more stringent regulations. Retailers must invest in advanced security technologies and adopt transparent practices to build trust with their customers.

More Personalized Subscription Models

Subscription services have become increasingly popular in the e-commerce industry, but in 2024, I expect retailers will offer subscriptions tailored to individual preferences, not only in terms of product selection but also in the frequency and timing of deliveries. These highly customized subscription models can enhance customer loyalty and supply a steady revenue stream for businesses.

Taking Advantage Of The 2024 Trends

Knowing the trends isn’t enough. The companies that will rise to the top in 2024 are the ones that position themselves to implement them successfully. We are well past the era of “move fast and break things.” This needs to be the year that you build consumer trust as you take advantage of these trends.

Before you begin jumping on these trends, you need to consider which ones fit your brand, your industry and your customer needs. Ask yourself questions before you start looking at bringing these trends into your e-commerce strategy. Here are some key questions to get you started:

• Who is our consistent customer base, and what keeps them loyal?

• What security measures do we have in place for customer data, financial data and company data?

• What weaknesses do we have in our security?

• How are we collecting data, and are we continuing to receive valuable information on customers and leads?

• Which trends match our company vision, goals and culture?

• What is our process for converting leads to customers, and how do these trends fit into this process?

The Technology

Once you have an idea of what trends you want to implement and what roadblocks may be ahead of you, let’s look at what you will need to have in place to make these trends work for you.

• Have a solid data collection strategy and software. Several of the strategies I’ve discussed revolve around customer data. If you don’t have a reliable program that can run reports, monitor customer activity and interpret data, you will fall behind on these trends. Tools like Qualtrics that use AI can help companies not only capture information but use it to create the personalized experiences consumers want.

• Improve your data encryption and security. No matter how good your current security is, you need to improve it this year. Because so many of these trends rely on consumer habits and customer data, it’s more important than ever that you can safeguard that data. Not only will the increased security improve consumer trust in your brand, but it will also protect that valuable data from competitors.

• Invest in AI technology. Investing in AI tools for security, data collection and analysis and customer service interactions is a vital step to help you take advantage of each trend we have looked at here.

E-commerce in 2024 is characterized by several trends that I expect to reshape the industry. From the integration of augmented reality and blockchain for transparency to subscription models with increased personalization and a heightened focus on sustainability, e-commerce is set to offer customers innovative and socially responsible shopping experiences. By figuring out which trends best fit their brand and then investing in technology to enable them, businesses can navigate the e-commerce world of 2024 with confidence and enthusiasm.

Bringing new technology to the legal field has been difficult historically. This is because legal work relies heavily on complex legal language. However, recent advancements in Large Language Models that have increased language writing and understanding abilities have sparked a wave of interest and investment ($700 million in startup funding since early 2023).

Technical solutions like retrieval augmentation, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and guardrails have emerged to tackle technical hurdles like lack of accuracy, explainability and privacy protections. Despite the breakthroughs in technology, structural impediments persist, such as retrofitting automation to nuances like billable hours and lack of standardization.

Founders exploring the LegalTech sector should consider having co-founders with a deep legal expertise to help in navigating incumbents’ dominance over relationships, data assets and security and to target positioning as partners rather than competitors to incumbents. This is because incumbents are consolidating through acquisitions and partnerships rather than building internally, as seen in legal research, document processing and litigation.

Future opportunities may arise in specialized domains like IP and compliance as well as improvements in legal service operations. While generative AI drives momentum, the legal industry’s complexities warrant caution in terms of partner positioning and segment selection.

What Should We Do About Google?

Mr. Wu is a law professor at Columbia, a contributing Opinion writer and the author of “The Curse of Bigness: Antitrust in the New Gilded Age.”

A federal judge held last week that Google has a monopoly on online search and has been illegally defending that monopoly for years. The verdict is important and correct, yet it leaves open an important question: What should the remedy be?

Judge Amit Mehta, in his 277-page decision, found that Google used a variety of means to hold on to its monopoly power and inflate prices paid by advertisers (and ultimately, consumers) to use Google’s search platforms. The remedy, which will be decided by the same judge after hearings begin in early September, needs to tear down the barriers that protect Google’s monopoly; if the judge delivers little more than a slap on the wrist to the tech giant, this verdict — a historic victory for the Biden administration’s antitrust division — will mean very little.

The government’s case centered on payments, which in 2021 totaled more than $26 billion, that Google pays Apple and others to be the default search engine on their products. In doing so, Google kept Apple out of the search market and, the judge ruled, weakened its other competitors. But if the court merely decrees that Google now abandon those agreements, it won’t be enough to unlock a long-monopolized market. It might even help Google in the short term by saving it some money.

Likewise, a remedy that attempts to restore competition in search by forcing users to click through multiple search-engine alternatives would most likely be ineffective and annoying — worse than the status quo.

A truly effective remedy need seek not only to punish Google for its past offenses but also open markets by meaningfully restraining the company from similar conduct in the future. The best way to do that is to ensure that a new generation of companies can compete fairly not just in the search market but also in new markets — especially the emerging markets for artificial-intelligence-driven tech services. That sort of remedy would return antitrust law to its historical role as a form of industrial policy that restrains monopoly to promote economic growth and innovation.

As a model to emulate, consider the remedies imposed on AT&T, the greatest tech monopoly of the 20th century. In 1956, the Justice Department settled a major antitrust suit against AT&T by requiring the company to stay out of computing — and to license, free, all of its 7,820 patents. That remedy was a blockbuster that gave rise to a new generation of companies that developed two essential American industries: general-purpose computing and semiconductors.
