This review was originally published on Bookreporter.com. Right from page one, Kaira Rouda hooks the reader in her new suspense novel, BEST DAY EVER. The story is told over the course of only one day, the day that Paul Strom has meticulously planned out, the day that he promises himself and his wife, Mia, will be the best day ever.

An even more improbable entry is the one that pins the tail on the killer. While much of the book is clumsy, contrived, and silly, it is while reading passages of the diary that one may actually find oneself laughing out loud. Amateurish, with a twist savvy readers will see coming from a mile away. 52.

I found Best Day Ever really absorbing and, though it starts quite slowly, Kaira Rouda effectively draws you in, bit by bit, until you find you can't (and don't want to!) get out! Highly recommended. There's nothing more disappointing as a reader than picking up a book you're excited about, and strongly disliking the read. Unfortunately, my experience with BEST DAY EVER was not one I'd wish to repeat.
